Bananas ripen in special chambers with the help of ethylene – a gas that escapes from the fruit even during releases natural maturation and helps the whole process.

There are 7 degrees of ripeness of bananas depending on the ratio of sugar and starch. They are delivered to the markets if they have reached a degree of maturity of 4 to 5.

At home ripening

Did they only have green bananas in the store? Never mind. Place them in the warmest place in your home. Depending on what green bananas you have brought and what you like best, it can take 1 to 4 days to ripen to the desired stage. Remember that bananas ripen faster when they are in a group with others.

  1. Warm place – 1 up to 2 days

Place an unripe banana near the heater. Or into the oven when it has cooled down a bit after baking. In this case, be carefull to check it regularly for brown spots on it.

2. Paper bag – 12 up to 24 hours

Place the banana in a brown paper bag and close it loosely. It is possible that in a few hours it will be ripe exactly according to your ideas.

3. Paper bag + fruit – up to 12 hours

To speed up, put other ripe fruit, such as an apple, in the bag of bananas. This speeds up the ripening process because the apple releases ethylene during ripening, which speeds up the ripening of bananas….
